German and Scandinavian music streaming service WiMP has updated its iOS app, building on its curation and editorial options for users. WiMP editors showcase what’s on or what's hot in each market, and suggest content for users, which could be news, charts, suggestions or reviews. Editors also suggest “Retro of the week”, “Legends” or “Label focus”.
WiMP is available in Norway, Sweden, Denmark and Germany. New features for users include information from Rovi, adding more information about artists and albums, as well as better tips for similar artists and albums they might want to listen to, plus artist booklets with text and images from the original artist albums.
News also comes from Rolling Stone Magazine, NME, Pitchfork and Uncut plus a number of local newspapers and magazines in each country, and a section for critics' favourites.
WiMP now allows users to stream music in high quality through 3G on their mobile. This feature was previously only available over a wi-fi connection.
Thor Martin Jensen, global editor of WiMP says: "We’re pleased that our users can now also easily browse and enjoy even more of our editor’s tips and recommendations on their mobile devices, making the music experience on the go even more interesting. We especially believe users will enjoy diving into even more info about the artists including the new booklets."
